Parkside’s 3nd Quarter Review

As we approach the end of the year, and look forward to the holidays, we are grateful for a very good first three quarters of 2017 in both our banking and TFO divisions.

September 2017

Volatility — The best of both worlds…but it won’t last.

Contrary to previous years, the markets in 2017 have not experienced major swings. Volatility in the US stock market, as measured by the VIX, spiked in April and May of this year, followed by a brief spike a few weeks ago. As a result, over the last year volatility in the Parkside Financial Bank & Trust model portfolios is approximately half typical model volatility.  While it is impossible to predict what will cause volatility in the future, we confidently expect volatility to return. When it does, our concern is it will catch investors off-guard given the recent lack of market movements.

Trust & Family Office Coordinator

Parkside Financial Bank & Trust is a privately-held institution with a uniquely fresh perspective on banking, commercial lending, trust and family office services – one focused on creating unparalleled simplicity in today’s increasingly complex financial environment. For decades, business owners and people at higher income levels have had little or no choice but to take a compartmentalized approach to achieving their financial goals – scattering investment strategies, estate and income tax planning, risk management solutions and everything else among multiple locations all over the country. At Parkside, we converge the multiple financial paths into a single, simpler route – The Parkside Path – which more directly leads to financial success.
